Overall quality of the vintage: good. Much more sugar than the reds, especially the Chablis, which did well for themselves. Between hail, rain, powdery mildew and mildew, the 2004 vintage was played out on the vines in Burgundy. July and August were cool and rainy. It was the fine weather in September that made up for the late ripening of the grapes and saved the vintage. An abundant harvest. Often criticized, this vintage presents some delightful successes.
