"Cold and rainy harvests, terrible," recalls Frédéric Mochel of Traenheim. Even if Alsatian winegrowers are delighted with the warming of the earth, the vineyards are not yet immune to the vagaries of the weather.

Rhone Valley - 1980

This year all quantity records are broken. The vintage is balanced, but could do better. The wines are, on the whole, fairly unstructured. That said, it is a good year in Tavel, for example.
