Rejoicing in thirteen grape varieties, a Mediterranean climate and an outstanding terroir, the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape are among the most renowned of the Rhone Valley. Taking its name from the papal history of the region, Châteauneuf-du-Pape owes its success to wines of great diversity, with the power and structure that enables them to stand the test of time.  At the beginning of the 20th century, The Châteauneuf-du-Pape winegrowers were the first to impose strict production control, in the early 20^th century, and the originators of the AOC system.
