CHATEAU-CHALON

According to a procedure established in 1958, an AOC monitoring commission pays an annual visit to the appellation vineyards just before the harvest, to check that the grapes have all the qualities required to be classified as AOC Château-Chalon. On its 50 hectares of vines, this terroir grows nothing but Savagnin grapes for the production of yellow wine. During a visit to Germany, Napoleon III encountered the wine in a blind tasting and pronounced it the best white wine in the world.
