Red Burgundy - 1943
Meteorological data: a fine spring. Hail in July. Magnificent summer and autumn.
Harvest status:
Abundance: reduced.
Quality: perfectly ripened grapes.
Overall quality of the vintage: very good. Delicious, well-constructed, ripe and still very fine wines.
White Burgundy - 1943
Overall quality of the vintage: good. Slightly short but still very interesting wines.
Red Bordeaux - 1943
Meteorological data: good conditions. Good flowering. Warm and dry summer.
Harvest status:
Abundance: average yield.
Overall quality of the vintage: good, even excellent. Rich, fruity and pleasant wines but lacking persistence. Some are still remarkable. Drink now.
White Bordeaux - 1943
Overall quality of the vintage: excellent. Rich and strong wines, today very dark in colour and a little tired.
Syrupy Bordeaux - 1943
Harvest status: Dates: from September 15th.
Overall quality of the vintage: very good. Powerful wines, still pleasant to drink, but in the process of drying out.
Champagne - 1943
Meteorological data: cool and showery. Difficult flowering.
Harvest status:
Quality: powdery mildew in the Côte des Blancs.
Overall quality of the vintage: very good. Wines now past their peak of the 1950s.
Red Rhone Valley - 1943
Overall quality of the vintage: very good. Powerful and generous wines, excellent ageing potential, which still have much pleasure to offer.
Alsace - 1943
